duret lutz 360 photo
These amazing photographies 360°x180° panoramas projected to look like small planets are made by Alexandre Duret-Lutz, he participated in the World Wide Panorama event. These pictures are an amazing way to give an overall view on a certain place and of course look great, just like little planets. If you want to create your own planets I recommend the Wee planets flickr site. Here’s a little excerpt, to give you a first impression what is needed:
To build a 360°x180° panorama you have to take pictures on all directions, but not only on the horizon. You should also shoot the sky (zenith) and the ground (nadir). A missing zenith is not important if you only plan to build a planet.
This initial panorama is built from many individual pictures with the following tools:
* autopano-sift to create control points,
* hugin to figure out, from the control points, how each picture should be distorted,
* enblend, to stitch the distorted pictures together.
Just take the time and watch some of those great photos. Via KanyewestBlog, fubiz
