To double up your fun with “The Art of Flight”, a limited-edition run of 5,000 was released. It consists of 204 pages of photography collected during the two-year filming project. The “The Art of Flight” showcases nine photographers’ art and skill, coupled with Travis Rice ‘ and the other riders’ personal stories of their experiences making “The Art of Flight”. It is said that, this book is “a testament to modern print technology” due to Hardback, with hand stitching, two gatefolds and multiple fifth-color printing techniques. And to complete that experience each book comes with a DVD & Blu-ray in pop-up display box. The package is available for 80$ here.

Another awesome short from the POLYNOID guys. It was produced as an entry to collaborational project ‘Resonance’ initialized by Simon Jones.

Resonance is the vision of SR Partners; a collaborative project with over 30 independent visual and audio designers/studios. The aim was to explore the relationship between geometry and audio in unique ways.

Matthew Nicholson created this awesome looking and even working Pinhole Camera, the Lie-ca M3. The Paper model is a homage to the legendary Leica M3. Westbeach teamed up with the Vancouver based artist Andrew Pommier to release a collection featuring his gritty and often dreamlike characters. The collection consists of the signature Jacket with Pommiers unique take on Vancouver’s local characters. It’s fully seam sealed and has a 10K mm waterproof rating and 10K gm breathability. The Pommier Hoody is flocked backed CVC with inside mesh pocket for a sketch pad and a bottle of wine. As well as a full line up of t-shirts using the characters from the jacket’s patterning.

All in all they made a super sick collection with Westbeach’s outstanding designs, cuts and quality and on the other hand Andrew’s unique characters that almost let the gear become artworks.

Uh and by the way there’s a rad give away: Everyone who buys a Pommier collection product at Westbeach.com will be entered into a free draw with the chance to win an original artwork of one of the characters Andrew designed. On Jan 15th Andrew will select 1 lucky winner at random.

Student project done by Boca (aka Marcos Ceravolo) and Ryan Uhrich for the term 4 Motion Design Class in the Digital Design Program at VFS (Vancouver Film School). Typographics is an informative motion graphics piece on typography. The objective was to use type as the main aestheic and design element to create awareness about the evolution and main characteristics of typography. Both the music and voice over used in the piece make reference to 1950’s TV and Radio advertising. Typographics targets designers and non designers who have an interest in typography and want to learn more about it. To complete the video there is a corresponding poster using the elements of the clip available for download at bocamotion.tv

The film was kindly funded by Adobe, made using their CS4 range of software. It was produced at Nexus Productions and features a soundtrack by Jape. It was made using a mixture of stop motion papercraft and 2D drawn animation.
