To double up your fun with “The Art of Flight”, a limited-edition run of 5,000 was released. It consists of 204 pages of photography collected during the two-year filming project. The “The Art of Flight” showcases nine photographers’ art and skill, coupled with Travis Rice ‘ and the other riders’ personal stories of their experiences making “The Art of Flight”. It is said that, this book is “a testament to modern print technology” due to Hardback, with hand stitching, two gatefolds and multiple fifth-color printing techniques. And to complete that experience each book comes with a DVD & Blu-ray in pop-up display box. The package is available for 80$ here.

If you haven’t seen it on TV Total or elsewhere :) once again the Trailer for “The Art of Flight” a Curt Morgan film with John Jackson, Mark Landvik, Scotty Lago, Nicolas Muller, DCP, Jake Blauvelt, Pat Moore, Jeremy Jones, Eero Niemela and of course Travis Rice.

Yeah we got some personal work here today. Bedtime Stories is a short by Fabian Fuchs entirely shot in Ireland. This is an entry for Amon Tobin’s fan project and also exhibited at 3 Tage Kunst Bar Musik exhibition at Bad Waldsee. Bedtime Stories is inspired by the location and the raw and thrilling lights and colors and the rough surroundings. The short is about someone who, ahh forget it just watch and think about what you see.

Sebastien Zanella founder and editor in chief of Desillusions Mag has an awesome unique style of photography. His images transport the true mood of the moment he freezes on film. Sebatien’s pictures are rough, honest and romantic. We’re proud to have him here and are thankful for the insights on his life and his point of view on photography.

It would be cool if you could tell us something about you as a person. How, why and when did you came up with the mag? Where you are from? What did you do in the past and what will your future look like?
Owwww, shit. Haha. I ‘m not use to be in this position, usually that’s me, The interviewer for Desillusion. Right now I know : that’s the hardest position…to be able to answer to this question in few words. Delimitate your life, in just some sentences. Fuck. My life was more complicated than everybody thinks. I come from Cannes, south of France, I was that kind of rebel who does bullshit in skateboard and BMX, who thinks that is possible to touch, his dream without selling his soul. So I started a DIY fanzine in black and white, called Desillusion magazine. Almost ten years after, I live on the other side of France, Hossegor. I’m still running Desillusion magazine. Desillusion was growing with me and right know is more than a magazine, I hope it is more. Kind of a «collective» with a lot of photographers, writers and artists involved. Every two months, they share the same idea: skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding as an excuse to be creative, to travel, to meet some other personalities and to do some crazy fuck’in report … haha. Yeah, skate, snow, surf, is not just about action, cause you can find action in soccer, running, … It’s more than that and we hope that Desillusion magazine puts these feelings on paper!

[Hell yeah! You guys are doing a great job! That's why Desillusion stands out from the rest. And made it pretty fast in the top three of our fav magazines!]Why do you even shoot in the first place, what took you there?
Photography for me is like giving a sense to uncountable things, random situations, absences and moments. If I see something, I shoot just like I breathe. I do that since my childhood and like I said, that’s giv’in a sense to my life, giv’in kind of soul to objects, help me to find beauty everywhere I go.

What kind of gear do you use?
Oh man, I use only 35 mm point of shoot camera, analog of course. I threw away my Canon 5D digital 3 months ago, when I came back from India.

Why do you obviously still shoot analog?
Like I just said, I gave away my Digital camera, like this, I’m sure to never use it anymore. I shoot analog caus I get sick about perfection. Digital is all about perfection, tak’in the best shot, touching up to make it better, changing the reality to a kind of fuck’in alien world… like fake breast, you know. Like plastic surgery… You see all this girls how have fake nose, breast etc… they are so looking the same. That’s the main idea behind perfection and behind the fact that you want to control everything. At the end everything looks the same. With analog you can’t lie to yourself, to yours eyes, with your model. You just take the soul.

Where do you get your inspiration for such moodful pictures from?
I am so lucky to be the editor in chief of Desillusion magazine, that gives me the opportunity to meet so many crazy photographers, artists and personalities. That’s the happy part of my influence, the other, is that in my life I was so disappointed by many things, I think that’s the romantic/mellow part of my pics. I hope all my pics tell that: Unless the crazy and fucked world where we live, if you open your eyes, humanity gives you some priceless moments, pure objects, beautiful traces of absences, funny subliminal message.

Sebastien, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer these personal questions! It’s an honor to have you here. We wish you all the best. High five!
The gallery beneath features a selection of Sebastien’s life and work. But as said it’s only a small collection. Make sure to heck his web:

Hampus Mosesson recently set up his own blog, holymoses.se which is already pretty nice and fun to follow. We talked to him to get some deeper insight what is all about.

Why did you decide to set up a blog?
To show people what and how I spend my year, with or without my friends. And I thought it was about time to have an proper website.

Guess it could be your downday time killer?
I dont know about that… It has just been released and it already seems like a lot of job every day since I wanna try to edit and put new stuff up as much as I can.

Is it your one man show?
Yeah, its all me. Me, videocamera, computer and help from friends… So far…

What can readers expect to find on the site? Will it be something like a personal diary or more about stuff you find on the web that you want to share?
Its mostly gonna be personal edits/blogs but some other stuff that I find, too. But I would say around 90-100% of my own shit or that has to do with me and my friends. It all depends if it’s more job than I thought or if I can pull it of. The ones that lives will see! haha

Been good, I had an insane summer. I didn’t really go on any major trips, but I just fished a ton. i spent a lot of time in Oregon and Nor Cal, fishing for stealies. I moved outa my pad in july and i just been a bum since. It’s nice though, no strings attached, I just cruise around in my truck and camp out wherever. Surf some couch, bombard the parents every now and then….. things are good. Season hasn’t started quite yet though. Some resorts are open but I haven’t been shredding too much yet. I been trying to climb as much as possible lately, get my mind and body ready for the season.

On what kind of projects are you working this season, where will you ride this winter?

I’ll be working with Forum for the “most” part and then we’ll see where the snow flies. Hopefully it dumps in the states, but it looks like Canada is getting pounded right now. I’d like to spend some time in Europe and also Alaska for sure!

What was your feeling like when you saw your first part in a professional snowboardmovie on a big screen?

Oh mun! I remember it so clearly. It was Torrey Piro’s movie “Hi Fi” at the La Paloma theater in Encinitas back in the day. This was my first year filming, and I didn’t know what was up with nothing…. such a rookie! I remember being all excited when the movie was starting, and then all of a sudden, my part comes on first and I had no idea. I remember getting all nervous and embarrassed like, “damn why’s my part gotta come on first, they must get the crapy stuff outa the way first.” At that time, I didn’t really know first and last part was the goods. It was a fun night.

Which of your parts do you like the best and who had the best part ever?

I’m pretty stoked on this years part in Forever. But for sure I always feel like I can do better. I was happy this year because I set out to do certain things in certain spots, and I got them done. The fact I wasn’t able to get into Canada put a bit of pressure on me because everyones like, “you gotta go to bc, you gotta go” and I felt confident I could make things happen without being up there at all. So this year definitely felt like an accomplishment.

You’ve got the last part in Forum’s “Forever”; it is definitely one of the best, how can you push yourself to step higher and higher every season?

I think you just do it naturally. I always wanna get to the next step or push myself harder to progress to that next level, do something I didn’t think I could or I was scared of. When you overcome stuff like that, it feels good. I want to use my body and mind to it’s fullest potential. It’d be boring otherwise. Everyone pushes themselves whether they think so or not, it’s just how hard you wanna push.
It mainly features backcountry shots, what happend to the good old rail?
I know right? Maybe next year. Man kids are getting tech this days like crazy! The rail scene is getting nasty and you gotta give those guys props. I’d love to get creative though on some urban nuggets, we’ll see.

What will snowboarding be like in 10 years?

It’ll be scary! No I don’t know, who knows! More Big Mountain freestyle.

We see a lot never done before tricks these days. Everybody’s talking about the double cork, tell us your story…

Ya a lot of new innovation. The double corks are fun,Ii think it opens a lot of doors. I got some new thoughts on tricks but it’s a bit different of the lip then in the mind so we’ll see.

What’s your opinion on rocker shaped snowboards?

I dont like em much. I tried riding one for the first time last year and I was only on it maybe a week. I like a lot of support and aggressiveness in a board. They’re fun to cruz on but I like the snap of a camber.

What’s your favorite off mountain activity and how do you spend your downdays?

It’s always been flyfishing but i have a crazy addiction for climbing as well. It’s been my new favorite thang.

Do you spend a lot of time on the web? Facebook? Blogs? Got some cool sites to share with us?

Not enough, look how bad I am at getting emails back! Sorry about that by the way. Nah I’m not a big computer guy. I got my facelift page going and all that. There’s a pretty cool website out there though, I think it’s called u toob or something?
Please just note the word that you first think about when you read this letters:
1. C: climb

2. L: ladder

3. D: dog

4. F: friend

5. X: xtreme sports bar and grill

John thanks a lot for your time. See you. Now it’s time for last words:

Stay positive, lots of love and blessings!
