Donkey Kong Country Returns is the comeback of Donkey and Diddy Kong on the Nintendo Wii. After the Super Nes Version of that Jump n’ Run game still is one of the best titles ever the expectations are very high, but the Return can definitely compete with it’s older version, even more than that. The key elements like the music and level design have been slightly redesigned and updated. The gameplay was improved through a two player mode and a super cool 3D feeling. All in all that Donkey Kong Country Returns is highly recommendable and our new favorite game on the Wii!

The Lomographic Society and Rip Curl teamed up to bring this special edition of the well known Fisheye 2. The camera comes in vibrant colors, has Rip Curl logos applied and of course  features a built-in flash. With this release a competition started, split into three different creative challenges, Stage I – Whole Lotta Love!, Stage II – Looking for Trouble?, Stage III – Life’s a Roadtrip! Each of this sub-categories gives you the opportunity to express your creativity combining surfing, skateboarding and analogue photography. As a reward there’ll be tons of giveaways by Lomography and Ripcurl as well as these grand prizes: 2 trips to the RipCurl Pro Bells Beach in April 2011, 2 trips to the RipCurl Pro Peniche in October 2011. This is the CASIO Exilim EX-G1 if you already own a G-Shock you probably know what the G stands for. Those are extremely shock resitant, robust and durable. So is this digital camera. The EX-G1 CCD chip offers an amazing 12.1 megapixels, a high-resolution 6.4-cm (2.5-inch) TFT colour display and here comes the deal. After it is shock resistant you can drop it of up to 2.13 metres and it still works perfectly, also if that happens out in the snow nevermind it’s protected against dust, sand, rain and snow and is also waterproof up to 3 metres. It’s just perfect for the needs of snowboarding. And besides the tech features the Exilim-G1 is an awesome and raw looking piece. The outer body is made of a special firm-grip stainless steel while the inside casing is a polycarbonat reinforced with fiberglass to absorb shocks.

You can use the camera underwater, in the snow wearing gloves. There is also a video recording mode as well as an interval recording function, it takes photos at intervals of 10 seconds to 3 minutes; the recording time is from 3 to 30 minutes. Sounds perfect for some timelapsing…

The iPhone App Toy Series consists of four different apps developed by Takayuki Fukatsu. The QuadCamera, the ToyCamera, the OldCamera and the latest one is the TiltShiftGenerator. We’ve already showed you the possibilities of the QuadCamera, an App that lets you take from 4 up to 8 pictures in one and on top offers a function that lets the taken pictures look like old school Lomo shots. The ToyCamera is pretty simple yet fun. You only have to take a picture and let ToyCamera apply effects chosen from your custom effect list et voila you got some real plastic lense film looking like images. Old Camera is the limited version of Toy Camera. Whenever you take a photo with this app, you can get old black and white picture. The TiltShiftGenerator App will allow you to create retro miniature pictures. By adjusting various parameters, it allows you to apply many ToyCamera effects on your pictures: from miniature pictures to vintage styles images. Originally, it’s been published as a free web service and AIR app.
There are also two online services. As mentioned above the TiltShiftGenerator online (which is an awesome tool for non iPhone users) just upload your image, tweak around the adjustments and save your tilt shift images. The second is an extension for the QuadCamera, the QuadAnimator converts your images to animated gifs.

Today we feature a pretty simple iPhone app. It was developed by Berlin (Germany) based Kühne Jäger.
Gloaming is a sleeptimer for iPhone and iPod touch. You set the time by dragging the sun upwards. Then you can watch the sun go down while you are listening to music or an audiobook before you fall asleep. Shaking the iPhone clears the application. Although it has only one very simple feature, the visualization is rather special.The Gloaming app is now available on iTunes.
